The new SPIR'ATOR extended eye power spring is a design breakthrough offering advantages over conventional prestressed power springs. Alternating layers of eye and spring element product fewer initial prewinds. The result is a more economical spring comprised of thinner, shorter, narrower materials. Improved performance results from the torque increase in the initial turns; this produces a flatter torque curve over the entire working range of the spring.

The SPIR'ATOR prestressed spiral Power Spring is produced by reverse winding a NEG'ATOR on an arbor and enclosing it in a case. Rotational energy can be obtained from either the arbor or case or, when linear motion is required, through use of a pulley and cable attachement.

The unique design of this encapsulated Power Spring yields a compact power source which operates with higher working stress and can provide more than twice as many revolutions as a conventional power spring in the same size case. With torque and deflection being equal, a SPIR'ATOR generally requires 20% less space than a power spring. Most importantly, this power package creates a low torque gradient.

NEG'ATOR Power Spring Motor Assemblies are composed of single or double NEG'ATOR power springs mounted on either one or two storage drums and a single output drum with an integral cable reel. The entire assembly is mounted on a metal base plate.

These complete assemblies can be readily installed in a product using the mounting holes provided, and can deliver either linear or rotary force.
